As confirmed by Kampala metropolitan police deputy spokesperson Luke Oweyisigire, a 49 years old identified as Jackline Arinitwe who hails from Katokori village, Kyanarwa parish, Katanda sub-county, Rubirizi district collapsed in Namugongo parish today (30th May 2022) around 11:30 AM.

“The territorial police at Kira Division is currently investigating the death of a pilgrim identified as Arinitwe. The deceased was among the 90 pilgrims who trekked from west Ankole diocese for the Martyry’s celebrations slated for Friday, June 3” He said.
“Her body has been conveyed to the city Mortuary Mulago for post-mortem to help establish the exact cause of death” Kampala metropolitan police deputy police publicist added.
With her death following other deaths recorded in past years, police advises public to rehydrate properly through the pilgrimage and sent their deep condolences to the family of the deceased.
