France’s Bedbug Bonanza: 50% More Unwanted Cuddles!
Bedbug infestations in France have surged dramatically — rising by more than 50% in June 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to a report by the Health and Environmental Protection Association.
The sharp increase is reportedly concentrated in **areas with high population turnover**, such as tourist districts, public transport zones, and densely populated urban neighborhoods.
Experts point out that **summer is a particularly vulnerable period**, with warm weather accelerating the reproductive cycle of the insects. A single female bedbug can lay hundreds of eggs in just a few weeks, making infestations difficult to control once they begin.
Residents have been advised to thoroughly inspect bedding, furniture, and clothing—especially after traveling or staying in hotels. Pest control professionals across major cities are reporting a record number of call-outs, with some warning that the problem could peak even higher by the end of summer.
While France continues efforts to contain the issue, officials are urging the public to remain vigilant and report sightings early to prevent wider spread.
