BREAKING: Uganda Declares First Ebola Death Since 2019 -Ministry of Health puts Mubende District on Surveillance
Uganda confirmed an outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Mubende District, Uganda.
The confirmed case is a 24-year-old male a resident of Ngabano village of Madudu Sub County in Mubende District presented with EVD symptoms and later died. The clinical team took off samples for testing at UVRI and the Results confirmed that the patient was positive for the Ebola-Sudan strain.
Ministry of Health Uganda advices Ugandans to contact the nearest health center in case of these signs and symptoms in order to avoid the spread of the virus. #EbolaOutbreakUG
Signs and symptoms of Ebola Virus
Primary signs and symptoms of Ebola often include some or several of the following:
- Fever
- Aches and pains, such as severe headache and muscle and joint pain
- Weakness and fatigue
- Sore throat
- Loss of appetite
- Gastrointestinal symptoms including abdominal pain, diarrhea, and vomiting
- Unexplained hemorrhaging, bleeding or bruising
Other symptoms may include red eyes, skin rash, and hiccups (late-stage).
Many common illnesses can have the same symptoms as EVD, including influenza (flu), malaria, or typhoid fever.
