NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg commented on the potential use of nuclear weapons by Russia in Ukraine, speaking at a meeting of the Group of the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats, in the European Parliament, in Brussels on Tuesday.

"Our message is that any use of nuclear weapons is absolutely unacceptable, it will totally change the nature of the conflict and Russia must know that a nuclear war cannot be won and must never be fought," he said.
Stoltenberg called for more support for Ukraine ahead of a 'hard winter'.
"We need to be prepared for a hard winter, be prepared to continue to provide support", he said, adding that otherwise, Europe would face 'a dangerous situation' and would become 'even more vulnerable'.
