Russia Named World’s Top Wheat Exporter

President Putin told the Eurasian Economic Forum Thursday that Russia continued to be the world's leading wheat exporter.

“We have become absolutely competitive at the global level, in the world markets. Countries like the United States or China produce more, but they also consume more,” while Russia has become “number one in the foreign market,” the president said.

He also noted that until recently, Russia was buying wheat, and now it is the largest exporter.

Russian President Vladimir Putin also assured that "nothing will change" because of the withdrawal of foreign companies from the Russian market, during a plenary session of the 1st Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow on Thursday.

"You know, sometimes you look at people who are leaving, and [think]: "Thank God, maybe?" We will fill their niches - our business and our production have already increased, and it will successfully take the place that our partners have prepared. Nothing will change," Putin said.
