With the high aim of positively influencing the community and youth empowerment through the film art, Okello, a 30 years old film maker is looking forward to breaking through in Ugandan film industry so as to accomplish his dreams of transforming the society through edutainment.
Okello, who founded companies; New Boundaries Films and Yele Films Uganda, explains the challenges he encounter as a talent that is still struggling to make it including stiff competition, limited funds, lack of exposure, to mention but a few.
"On the side of production and how to make myself and the company thrive I encountered series of problems like securing finances for production, stiff competition, no market for the movies, unavailability of fundings and grants, lack of exposures in terms of the medias like TVs to premiere or show our movies etc" He said.
Okello has worked on different short movies including “Intoxicated”, “Plan C” and recently finalized their latest piece, “I am not your luggage” and they are all uploaded to their YouTube channels.
"I have worked on movies like 'Intoxicated' which is about the effects of drug abuse on school going youth, 'Plan C' about the effects of Covid-19 on private school teachers during lockdown and currently we worked on a movie called 'Am not your luggage' based on how young men try to get women into their lives but finances won't allow them take care their lovers"
Although he faces all those challenges, he vowed to never give up on his dreams and winded up requesting Local television to support Ugandan movie industry talents and air out their movies.
