Since the outbreak of covid 19 hit Uganda in March 2020, The transport sector was among the first sectors that faced many inconveniences from total lockdown to operating 50% until on 31th December 2021 when HE Yoweri Kaguta Museveni declared the sector to reoparate fully.
Different people who had gone to rejoice and celebrate festival holidays with their families upcountry may be wondering how the changes are applying back on ground and what they should expect when boarding different means of public transport around Kampala.
This called our consent to make findings how things are on ground and according to general public who have used them so far, the Taxis also known as the "matatus" are carrying full number of people. it means three people per row which makes 14 in total and transport fare has gone back to normal as it has been before it was dubled because of carrying 50% passengers.
Although It was ordered by the Ministry of Health - Uganda that all travelling people must have their vaccination cards in order to access the public means of transport, and instructing drivers to make sure that they don't carry non vaccinated people, according to some people who have used them Taxis report that they were not asked Vaccination cards.
However it must be remembered that HE Museveni claimed that some of the measures that have been taken on 31st December 2021 will have to be revised if it happens that Covid 19 patients fill up 50% of the ICU beds.
