The big day has come! As we put the full stop to the year 2021, President Museveni was set to adress the country about the reopening of different sectors that have been temporary closed as a result of corona virus pandemic including schools that are now two years closed, bars and more.
below are the decision that were taken for the year 2022.
- The transport sector which has been operating 50%, will now operate fully with SOPs like wearing masks observed.
- Schools to reopen on 10th January 2022.
- Cinema halls and sports event will open with SOPs observed. Responsible ministers will guide.
- Bars and concerts to open 2 weeks after the reopening of schools.
- Curfew will be lifted for everybody apart from boda bodas after the performing arts resumes after 2 weeks from the official reopening of schools. Boda bodas shall remain following the curfew of 7 PM .
However, the president claimed that if patients fill up to 50% of the ICU beds, some of the above measures will have to be revised.
Ugandans in general are still encouraged to keep on observing all the set standards operating procedure and getting fully vaccinated for those who are not yet vaccinated as the omicron variant is spreading very fast.
